We also want to share your own tributes to Dashiell Hammett and John Huston's other work and your annasys on how the rank with The Maltese Falcon.

Throw in your other work a film noir and how the genre was influenced by "The Maltese Falcon," and it's all good.

The Long, Drawn Out, Wordy Version

The Fedora Chronicles staff has been working on a time capsule for "The Maltese Falcon" for the past 10 years and more, It started what the novel and the movie means to the fans in 2005, and has contined on since then well into 2016 and people.

When it began, it was the month the novel was a mere 75 years old, originally published in the pulp ". To commemorate this event we asked folks to write short essays on their “Maltese Falcon” memories. No particular length… and it doesn't just have to be just about the book or the motion picture staring Humphrey Bogart and directed by John Huston. Any memory about the story, your personal pursuit of getting a version of the famous prop, an special memory of an event, even a speculation about the meanings and the metaphors in the story. We will even except artwork sent into us… drawings, sketches, and paintings… sent to us in jpg format.

We also encouraged the folks how haven't seen the movie, go out and get a copy and let us know what you think -  Special Reviews from people just recently introduced to "The Black Bird" and Sam Spade.

Also on this special tribute page to The Fedora Chronicles we want to host links to groups dedicated to the work of Dashiell Hammett... if you know any groups that should be added, please let us know.

In the years that past since we started with the folks we never imagined that we would continue on past 80th Anniversary and now the 85th. By the time some of you read this, maybe we'll have gone past the 90th… 100th and so on. For all of you readers of The Fedora Chronicles in the past, present and future we wanted to have something saved and archived so folks can come back and see what folks had to say about The Maltese Falcon in this period in history.

It's been an amazing project that was one of the first projects we started here on The Fedora Chronicles, and has become something amazing all it's own.
