Latest in our very own Electric Speakeasy

Dedicated to Anthony Bourdain - Insperation for our "Dine" Section -
For folks who don't know, Anthony Bourdain was an inspiration to a few of us here at The Fedora Chronicles and what kept me - Eric Renderking Fisk - going when times have been tough for us.
One of the greatest things I took from his two books "Kitchen Confidential" and "Medium Raw" is the attitude to just keep going. Plow through the tough times, learn your damn lessons, and just persevere. "Yea, no kidding it's tough... so what? Don't quit now when you're just getting good at it" was the over-arching theme of his writing.
Anthony taught me and a lot of other writers that you can be a writer from any background and be really good at it so long as you write from the heart. Some self-deprecating humor and genuine humility don't just go a long way, it's essential.
He proved that you can write about anything and so long as it is informative and entertaining you will find an audience or the audience will find you.
Posted December 4th, 2008: "Red Robin" Review: Somewhere on The Electric Speakeasy there's a quote that might become our motto for a short while: "Everyone gets knocked over: The measure of a man is how well he gets up again." The same holds true for eating establishments; from one of a kind sole proprietors, hot dog stands and even chains. Everyone deserves a second chance, no matter how badly they fouled up. This review is one great example.
Pizza Haven: There's a subtlety to what makes a pizza great - the perfect balance between something new and exciting while at the same time being comfort food that's reliable and crave-able. Pizza Haven performs this balance act wonderfully...
New England Hot Dog Company - The franchises slogan "A Burger's Worst Nightmare" only scratches the surface of what they serve - gourmet (yes, I'm serious) hot dogs.
"Corn Beef And... Asparagus!" First Published March 16th, 2007: Eric 'Renderking' Fisk tackles a Saint Patrick's Day Tradition and questions the popularity of a dish made famous during this holiday.
"Why Staying Home On Special Occasions Is Sometimes Better," May 28th, 2009 - Eric Renderking Fisk rants about what to do on a special occasion when going out to a restaurant is not an option. Intimacy can - and often does - start in what might be the most unromantic room in the house.
"Pecan Apple Pie Pancakes," May 2007 -
Carol Solera Fisk shares her favorite breakfast dishes. Not quite Pancakes, not quite Pecan Pie. Too good not to share.

"North East Cook-Out: An Atrocious Excuse For A Barbeque," - June 4th, 2010 - There’s nothing worse than a really horrible mean made of charred over-done meat and store bought potato salad.
