The Fedora Chronicles Radio Show · The Mass-Debaters: Part One

Eric Renderking Fisk and Jason Cousineau | October 14th, 2020.

On this special episode of The Fedora Chronicles Radio Show, Jason Cousineau and Eric Fisk tackle the difficult topic - why don't more Americans vote? Could it be the plague of horrible candidates who are out of touch with the working and middle classes? Could it be that both the Republican and the Democratic parties are populated with corrupt elected officials whose behavior is dictated by their campaign donors and special interest groups?

Or could it be the rampant voter shaming - as if there's something wrong with you on every physical, emotional and spiritual level if you don't vote the "correct" way as if voting you are conscious is a wasted vote?

The Washington Times: "Hillary Clinton behind plan to tie Trump to Russia, CIA warned Comey, Strzok," By Rowan Scarborough - - Tuesday, October 6, 2020

The CIA wrote a highly classified three-page memo to FBI Director James B. Comey and agent Peter Strzok telling them that 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had approved a plan to blame Russian computer hacking on rival Donald Trump. The Washington Times obtained a copy of the heavily redacted memo sent to the FBI on Sept. 7, 2016, weeks after Mr. Strzok had opened the Crossfire Hurricane probe into the Trump campaign on suspicion of conspiring with the Kremlin.

Then-CIA Director John O. Brennan wrote in notes that Mrs. Clinton allegedly approved the plan, one declassified document shows.

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe had previously described the contents in a letter to Congress. He declassified the memo and notes on Tuesday at the direction of Mr. Trump.

The president has repeatedly complained he is the victim of a “Russia hoax” that said he colluded with the Kremlin.

“It is imperative that the American people now learn what then-Vice President Joe Biden knew about this conspiracy and when he knew it,” campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said.

The Brennan memo refers to “the source,” a suspected Russian. “An exchange [redacted] discussing U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s approval of a plan concerning U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of private email server,” the CIA memo says.

Mr. Brennan wrote in notes: “We’re gaining additional insight into Russian activities.” Mr. Brennan wrote that on July 26, Mrs. Clinton allegedly approved “a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisers to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian security service.”

FTC: "FTC Sends Report to Congress on Social Media Bots and Deceptive Advertising," July 16, 2020

The Federal Trade Commission has sent a report to Congress on the use of social media bots in online advertising. The report summarizes the market for these bots and outlines the Commission’s past enforcement work and authority in this area, including cases involving automated programs on social media that mimic the activity of real people.

The report notes research showing that the market for social media bots is thriving and out in the open, and that it remains easy, cheap, and effective to sell, buy, and use these bots for commercial purposes. It also notes that bots are used on social media for many other purposes, both good and malicious, that they range from simple to sophisticated, and that they can be difficult to detect despite the continuing efforts of platforms, researchers, and others to combat them.

The report also describes the Commission’s previous law enforcement activity related to social media bots and other inauthentic online activity, highlighting the Commission’s case against Devumi, a company that sold fake followers, likes, and subscribers on social media accounts. The report notes that the FTC Act’s prohibition on unfair and deceptive acts and practices can apply to these sorts of cases depending on the specific facts.

The Commission vote to issue the report to the Senate Committee on Appropriations was 4-0-1, with Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter recorded as not participating. Commissioner Rohit Chopra issued a statement.
