About Matt Forrest Esenwine

Via his website: "Back when I was a high school underclassman, a poem I wrote was selected for inclusion in a local college's literary magazine and that was all it took to get me rolling! Over the years, I've had numerous adult-oriented poems published in various
independent collections as diverse as the Tall Grass Writers Guild’s Seasons of Change, Metamorphosis Publishing’s Visions, Trigger Warning: Poetry Saved My Life, Assisi: Online Journal of Arts & Letters, The 5-2 Crime Poetry Weekly, and many more.

I am very proud that in 2012, one of my poems, "Apple Stealing" was nominated by the Young Adult Review Network (YARN) for a prestigious Pushcart Prize.

I am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and llustrators (SCBWI) and you can find my poetry in various children's anthologies including Lee Bennett Hopkins’ School People (Wordsong, 2018); J. Patrick Lewis’ The National
Geographic Book of Nature Poetry (National Geographic Children's Books, 2015); and Kenn Nesbitt's One Minute Till Bedtime (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, 2016), among others.

In addition to Flashlight Night, my second picture book, Don't Ask a Dinosaur (Pow! Kids Books) - which I co-authored with author Deborah Bruss - will be in stores April 17, 2018!"
