Lord K's Garage #187: A Little Wonder
Posted by Lord_ on June 7, 2013
Today, a masterpiece of postwar streamline design:
Based on a 1949 Fiat 500C, the Fiat 750 MM Panoramica is perhaps the cutest creation ever to roll through the doors of Zagato*.
The combination of aluminium body panels and Plexiglass windows kept the kerb-weight down to a positively anorexic 530kg; the use of Plexiglass enabled the styling house to create boldly curvaceous windows that just wouldn't have been possible with regular glass.
More than merely a styling exercise, the 'MM' in the name refers to the Mille Miglia; indeed, the 750MM placed fourth-in-class in the 1949 event, averaging 57.5mph over the entire distance.
