A young FBI agent Clarice Starling has to find a missing woman to save her from a serial killer who skins his victims. Clarice has to gain the confidence of another psychopath Hannibal Lecter who will help the FBI locate the killer.  

Some aspects of this film are rather unpleasant (moths in dead people's mouths) but it is a fine,suspenseful thriller. Jodie Foster is good as the young female detective but this is Anthony Hopkins' movie, Hannibal Lecter is surely one of the most memorable villains in modern cinema, he makes a big impact despite comparatively little screen time.
 

Among those considered for the role of Hannibal Lecter were Gene Hackman, Robert Duvall, Jack Nicholson and Robert DeNiro.

A mesmerising thriller which will grip audiences from first scene to last. Variety
