His early colour animated shorts marked the peak of Mickey Mouse even though the Disney animators had began to run out of ideas for stories just about him (Mickey was too good and bland a character). Many of these films have him well supported by characters like Donald Duck and Goofy and are more ensemble pieces. Not necessarily earth shattering in their significance nevertheless films like Clock Cleaners (1937) are among the most entertaining animated shorts ever made.
