Joe Merrill  wants to prove he can be a success without support from his wealthy father who owns a chain of stores. He pretends to be Joe Grant  and works in the stockroom where he meets Maggie Johnson. They fall in love. Unfortunately Joe's mother plans him to marry a high society girl.

This charming romantic comedy is a better showcase for Mary Pickford's acting talent than the restrictive little girl roles she often played. Mary has a fine rapport with future husband Charles "Buddy" Rogers. The film also offers an interesting commentary on the barriers of class which is still relevant.

This was Mary Pickford's last silent film, she was to make only five more films before she retired in 1933.
