Henry VIII wants to divorce his wife but to do so he must go against the Pope in Rome. He makes himself head of the Church of England, Sir Thomas More refuses to accept this and is eventually executed for treason.

A highly literate version of the story of Sir Thomas More, it translates very well to the cinema with excellent acting. Whatever your religious views this is a moving portrait of a man who wouldn't compromise on his beliefs.
