Masterful combination of epic war film and biopic this is a visual stunner. Some of the shots of the desert are remarkable and were achieved despite horrendous difficulties : the cutting of O'Toole lighting a match to the desert vista is incredible. Also Omar Sharif's superb entrance in what some seems to be a mirage is a testimony to what cinema can achieve visually. Peter O'Toole in a great performance captures Lawrence's disenchantment and bravado.
