A 12 year old boy works as a spy on the Eastern front, because he is small he can cross the German lines unnoticed.

An unusual war film seen from a child's point of view. The director's mastery of surreal imagery is well demonstrated and he also brilliantly uses newsreel techniques in the devastating finale.
