Colonel Ripper goes mad sending his bomber wing to destroy the USSR. The Soviet ambassador tells the US President that if the USSR is hit it will trigger a Doomsday Machine which will destroy all plant and animal life on Earth. Can the bombers be stopped in time ?

Funny but rather unsubtle black comedy which is quite revealing about the paranoia of the Cold War. It generates plenty of suspense as well as laughs and is probably Peter Sellers' finest hour with his multiple roles though the title character is really an overdone cartoon.

Trivia - The Golden Age of Hollywood

The idea that putting fluoride in the water was a Communist plot to poison Americans was not made up, it was a common theory during the 50s.
