Sally

becomes pregnant, Brian offers to marry her but it doesn't work out.
Sally returns to the Kit Kat club to sing.
The last of the
great film musicals adds a new realism to the genre. You sense that the
end of the age of innocence applies not just to Weimar Germany
but the film musical too. Minnelli is of course superb and the scene in
which a Hitler Youth member sings "Tomorrow Belongs to Me " is suitably
chilling.
