While most youngsters of his age are driving the new 1932 Ford Roadster or flashy Duisenberg, Ernie Fairmont has chosen a classic motorcar for his transportation. "I purchased this timeless gem from the rubbish yard in 1930. Although it was in distress, the lines and body style were stylish and elegant, reminiscent of a by-gone era."

Despite prohibition, the previous owner, Dr. Franklin, had been overcome with hooch from a local speak-easy, and the front of the motorcar was damaged due to a collision with a milk wagon.

Ernie purchased the motorcar for $5.00, and although that may seem like a lot for an automobile, he could not pass it up. "With tools from the 5-and-dime, I replaced the 212cid engine with a second generation "Fast Four" motor. The newer motor has 5 main bearings, rather than the older 3-bearing model. This allows for faster engine speeds without torsional deformation..."

"I also replaced the spokes with a nice silver ash, and installed a mahogany steering wheel. Along with the 3 speed manual transmission, the motorcar puts out a whopping 35 horsepower. I know it’s already over 5 years old, but I don’t mind being made fun of. It’s a classic, and I love it."
