Wonderful romantic fantasy with
incredible special effects and sets for the time. Fairbanks' films have
been unjustly neglected and this was by far the most ambitious and
opulent of them, it also stands out as an enduring classic due to its
driving imaginative storyline which always keeps the viewer interested.

A 1980s restoration in the Thames Silents series included a score incorporating Rimsky Korsakov themes written by Carl Davis.
The sets were designed by William Cameron
Menzies who later worked on Gone with the Wind (1939).
