Not revolutionary but incredibly
entertaining western which was Hawks' reaction to High Noon (1952)
which both he and Wayne thought was unAmerican. In contrast in this
film the hero gets some help even if it is provided by a drunk, a
youngster (a talented gunslinger) and a cripple.
For the first four minutes there is no
dialogue.
This was western regular Ward Bond's 22nd
and last movie with the Duke.
