Release date 25th February 1953
Country : France
Running time : 114 mins

Starring Jacques Tati
Screenplay by Henri Marquet

Monsieur Hulot causes chaos when he goes on holiday to a French seaside town.

There is a reality about this understated film unusual in slapstick comedy. It is a bit episodic but beautifully paced with some very funny sequences particularly Monsieur Hulot's encounters with the boat and the fireworks.

Trivia - The Golden Age of Hollywood

This was Tati's second feature and the first appearance of his most famous creation Monsieur Hulot, in his first feature he had played a postman in Jour de Fete (1948).

Despite the success of Monsieur Hulot in this film and Mon Oncle, he made only four screen appearances in total, the other two films were Playtime and Traffic.
