Willie McKay comes to claim his inheritance in the Blue Ridge mountains but becomes involved in the age-old family feud with the Canfields.

Keaton's second feature is one of his finest films, a charming period comedy which parodies melodramas about family feuds. It is also has incredibly dramatic action sequences : the chase of Buster through the mountains, the final struggles down the rapids and over the falls, as well as some really funny scenes like the uneven train ride over fallen trees.

Trivia - The Golden Age of Hollywood

Keaton was almost drowned coming down the rapids and his peril is evident if you watch the film closely.

His leading lady Natalie Talmadge was then Buster's wife and was pregnant during the filming meaning she had to be photographed in such a way to conceal this.
