Jefferson Smith exposes the corruption at the height of government.

The definitive Capra movie about the little man taking on the system here the mighty US government. It was controversial in its day and is an exhilirating ride most of the way although it ends rather suddennly. Stewart should definitely have won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance and his incredible filibuster.

Trivia - The Golden Age of Hollywood

Stewart dried his throat with bicarbonate of soda for the filibuster scene.

This was Capra's last film for Columbia the writing had been on the wall since the expenses on Lost Horizon (1937) got out of control.
