The mob career of Henry Hill from his teen years on the streets of New York to his anonymous exile under the Witness Protection Program.

Scorsese's best movie so far for me is much more sophisticated than the rough and ready Mean Streets and more accessible than Raging Bull. Of course these are still unsavoury characters but the director's skill  has us rooting for them and completely engaged in the film. The acting throughout is exemplary with special mention for Joe Pesci's Tommy DeVito : an incredible portrayal of a psychopath.

Trivia - The Golden Age of Hollywood

"In its own narrow near claustrophic perspective...driven along by a classic soundtrack and with no shortage of master directorial brush strokes, it is hard to imagine a bigger picture than this." From a review in "Empire
