Harold Hickory the weakling son in an
important family proves his worth when he discovers the thieves from a
medicine show who have stolen money for a dam. He confronts one of them
in the hull of a ship overpowers him and returns the money to his
father just in time to prevent him being hanged.
A perfect combination
of gags, character and story make this Lloyd's finest film. His
motivations for becoming a hero are stronger and more believable here
than in any other film. It is also noteworthy for the clever uses of
the camera from the superb opening to the sequence where Lloyd climbs a
tree to say goodbye to Mary played by the lovely Jobyna Ralston. The
fight on the ship is very exciting as is the final chase to save the
head of the Hickory family.

This was Harold's personal favourite among
his films.
