


Three
soldiers of differing backgrounds adapt to civilian life after World
War II.
This is the greatest
movie ever made about returning servicemen and the troubles they
encounter re-adjusting to civilian life. It basically follows the
stories of three men : Dana Andrews who finds his wife a stranger
and is at the very bottom rung of the ladder job wise,
Fredric March in an excellent Academy Award winning performance ( Myrna
Loy plays his welcoming wife) takes to drink after the terrors of war
he has seen, changed by that experience he gives the benefit of the
doubt to ex GIs and most moving of all Harold Russell as a soldier
who has lost his hands who discovers his girl loves him nevertheless.
Directed by William Wyler and produced by Samuel Goldwyn this was
definitely the finest film either of them were ever involved in.
