There is no rhyme or reason to "The Link Of The Day," there is no set pattern to why I link to what I link to, other then the fact that in my travels via the net I discover links that interest me. And if it interests me, then it could be of interest to you, too. Sometimes a "Link Of The Day" will last for more then just one day, sometimes there won't be a link at all. It's all random. But! If YOU have a site that should be featured on "Link Of The Day," just send it to me with a brief description of the site with it's URL. And send along a banner! Thanks a billion - keep your chins up and your fedora's on! |

April 15th, 2007April 15th, 2007 - Please take a moment to remember those countless millions lost, those who fought to put this attrocoty to an end and those who are working hard to make sure we never forget. The
Holocaust was the systematic annihilation of six million Jews by
Adolf Hitler
and the Nazis during World War 2. In 1933 approximately nine million
Jews lived in the 21 countries of Europe that would be military occupied
by Germany during the war. By 1945 two out of every three European Jews
had been killed by the Nazis. 1.5 million
children were murdered. This figure includes more than 1.2 million
Jewish children, tens of thousands of Gypsy children and thousands of
handicapped children.
The Holocaust is a history of enduring horror and sorrow. It seems as though there is no spark of human concern, no act of humanity, to lighten that dark history. Read the story of Rivka Yosselevska, the story of the children of Bullenhuser Damm or the story the children of Izieu. |

August 9th, 2007The Goodwood Revival is the world’s most popular motor race meeting and the only event of its kind to be staged in the romantic time capsule of the Fifties and Sixties. As well as recreating the golden era of motor sport, the Revival offers exceptional wheel-to-wheel racing around a classic circuit, untouched by the modern world. The Revival relives the glory days of Goodwood Motor Circuit, which ranked alongside Silverstone as Britain’s leading racing venue throughout its active years between 1948 and 1966. During this time, it hosted contemporary racing of all kinds, including Formula One, the famous Goodwood Nine Hours race and the celebrated Tourist Trophy sports car race. |

Fantastic Planet -
René Laloux's mesmerising psychedelic sci-fi animated feature won the Special
Jury Prize at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival and is a landmark of European
animation. Based on Stefan Wul's novel Oms en série [Oms by the Dozen], Laloux's
breathtaking vision was released in France as La Planète sauvage [The Savage
Planet]; in the USA as Fantastic Planet; and immediately drew comparisons to
Swift's Gulliver's Travels and Planet of the Apes (both the 1968 film and
Boule's 1963 novel). Today, the film can be seen to prefigure much of the work
of Hayao Miyazaki at Studio Ghibli (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away) due to its
palpable political and social concerns, cultivated imagination, and memorable
animation techniques. |
