My love of old beautiful things came to me from my Great-Grandmother Adelia. She survived the loss of two of her three children, twice widow-hood and could still get up as an old woman and dance a jig. She was a woman of the type that God does not make any more. From my Great-Grandmother Lena I learned to look to the bright side of life because her tealeaves always predicted a bright future. From my two Grandmothers Ruth and Ethelyn, I received so much love, instruction on how to be a proper lady and how to sew. They taught me that giving is truly better than receiving and to understand the pure joy of gathering family together. They are proof that love does come in small packages. My grandfathers gave me invaluable advise on the practical matters of life and showed me how to continue on no matter how hard life could be, because I am made of the stuff that they were...sturdy, honest, fair, hardworking and loving. I am very fortunate to have a husband who loves me in sickness and health, thru the good and bad times and who has given me two of the most wonderful sons in the world! Thank you Gerhard…. |
