In the first half of the show, we welcome back Jim Loretta and chat about what he’s been up to and what’s been keeping him away from the microphone.

Then after the break, Walt Schnabel and Eric Renderking Fisk, talk about the concept of Synchronicity – specific events that are "meaningful coincidences." Then Walt and Eric talk about The Mandela Effect, a phenomenon when many people insist they remember history happening differently, and what might cause that.

Thanks for listening, enjoy the show!

The Synchronicity Handbook: Aaron Murakami

Wikipedia: Synchronicity (GermanSynchronizität) is a concept, first introduced by analytical psychologist Carl Jung, which holds that events are "meaningful coincidences" if they occur with no causal relationship yet seem to be meaningfully related.[1] During his career, Jung furnished several slightly different definitions of it.[2] Jung variously defined synchronicity as an "acausal connecting (togetherness) principle," "meaningful coincidence", and "acausal parallelism." He introduced the concept as early as the 1920s but gave a full statement of it only in 1951 in an Eranos lecture.[3]

In 1952 Jung published a paper "Synchronizität als ein Prinzip akausaler Zusammenhänge" (Synchronicity – An Acausal Connecting Principle)[4] in a volume which also contained a related study by the physicist and Nobel laureate Wolfgang Pauli,[5] who was sometimes critical of Jung's ideas.[6] Jung's belief was that, just as events may be connected by causality, they may also be connected by meaning. Events connected by meaning need not have an explanation in terms of causality, which does not generally contradict the Axiom of Causality.

Jung used the concept to try to justify the paranormal.[7] A believer in the paranormal, Arthur Koestler wrote extensively on synchronicity in his 1972 book The Roots of Coincidence.[8]

Parallel Universes: Theories & Evidence By Elizabeth Howell, Space.com Contributor | April 28, 2016 12:18am ET There are at least five theories why a multiverse is possible, as a 2012 Space.com article explained

The Guardian UK: Multiverse: have astronomers found evidence of parallel universes? To many these past 12 months seem as if we have already slipped into a parallel universe but Brexit and Trump are nothing compared to the alternate universes some astronomers are contemplating.

IFLScienec: New Theory Suggests Parallel Universes Interact With And Affect Our Own Universe: The concept of parallel universes has been depicted frequently in science fiction, without any real evidence that they actually exist. Howard Wiseman of Griffith University in Australia led a team that believes quantum theory allows for multiple versions of our universe to exist and overlap, and even interact with one another on the quantum level. Michael Hall is the lead author of the paper, which was published in the journal Physical Review X.

Studying the nuances of quantum theory can get tricky, as things behave contrary to what would be expected from ordinary matter. Quantum states of a system are believed to simultaneously exist in all possible configurations until an observer forces it to adopt one state.
