“Why Palin Quit,”

Sarah Palin

CNN Breaking News: July 3rd, 2009: -- Sarah Palin says she will step down as governor of Alaska in a "few weeks" -- before the end of her term."

I'm slow on this news item for a two good reasons. The less obvious one is that I'm learning some new webmaster techniques. I'm reading more about "HTML" and "CSS" then writing rants. Period. I really don't want to finish an article until I'm able to make everything look right with the magic tricks I've learned and say "ta-da" to the rest of the world. None of which has anything to do with this topic.

See... you know when I'm comfortable with the new code and software when I feel safe enough to ramble and rant.

But the second reason? I'm dumbfounded. How can I answer this this question with out turning this into a rant about something else? This could turn into long winded diatribe on how much I hate the main stream media (MSM) and moronic bloggers.

That's the short version of my answer to the question, "Why Palin quit?" Sarah Palin had enough of the snarky people publishing made up news items and uninformed opinion columnists who don't know what they're talking about.

One of the things I really want to do is just go off and ramble for several pages about how Sarah Palin never stood a chance with the deck stacked against her.

First, she was the running mate of a Presidential candidate who has been delegated the grumpy old fool who ran against the "hip and with it," Mr. Hope-And-Change himself. That in-and-of itself is reason alone why Mrs. Palin was the target of the MSM. She's the villainess for that reason alone. Done.

Second, she's an attractive woman with conservative views or traditional values. That's simply not allowed and is intolerable to the elite leftists.

She's a pro-lifer? Done for.

Believes marriage is a religious sacrament between a man and a woman (and only ONE man and ONE woman,)? She's toast just like the former Miss California.

Second Amendment advocate, hunter who can field dress her own game and turns away federal spending from Big Brother for needless spending? [She's the one who halted "The Famous Bridge To No-Where" for reasons few sites agree on] - burnt toast.

The only people she could win any popularity contests were the voters, and the lecherous men who would like to see her naked. [Or the fakes made by the aforementioned using PhotoShop.] She never made any friends in the media with her "Pit Bull with lipstick" approach to making statements to the press or showing up to interviews unprepared. There were some instances when the biggest enemy Mrs. Palin had was... Mrs. Palin. (Herself, not her husband's mom...)

Say what you want about Sarah Palin's policies as governor or opinions; that's one of the philosophies behind The First Amendment. Any political candidate and official (elected or appointed) is fodder for satire or commentary. You should voice your disapproval of your public officials, not just those who aren't in your favorite political party. You should be militant against those in your party, as well. But that's rambling for another time.

Facing  criticism goes with the territory of being a politician. In an interview Mrs. Palin granted during the campaign, she was asked about Hillary Clinton's complaints that she was judged harsher then the other male candidates during the Democratic primaries. Sarah Palin said you just have to "plow through it" - advice she should have taken herself.

But the line of what's fair game for satire or commentary should be drawn at children, spouses and extended family members. That line was crossed.

And that's exactly why she's leaving politics and becoming a private citizen; the comments, commentary and jokes about her family. Nobody knows what it's like to be hounded day and night by the press or the media. Nor could anyone know what it's like to be a kid or young adult and hounded day and night by the media because of the office your mom holds. That was the biggest factor why she's resigning as Governor of Alaska. Unfair attacks against HER FAMILY. Not her, but her husband and children.

The press was relentless with their unfair treatment towards Sarah Palin's 18 year old daughter after it was revealed that she was pregnant with her boyfriend's child, whom she planned on marrying. The Pro-Choice fringe railed against her - telling us that the only choice that's relevant or should be celebrated is the one to abort. Then there's the ridiculous rumors that Mrs. Palin's fifth son is actually Bristol Palin's first...

The Huffington Post:: "We're going with the rumor: Sarah Palin is not Trig's mother,""

Would a 44-year-old woman with four kids out of diapers, embarking on her first governorship, really get pregnant? Or would a 17-year-old, living in a small Alaska town with conservative parents who didn't tell her about condoms, starting fooling around and accidentally get knocked up?p?

We hope it's not true, for little Trig's sake. But we also hoped John Edwards would never cheat on awesome Elizabeth with that toad Rielle. Sometimes politics is stranger than fiction. Frances Quinn Hunter and Trig Palin, America demands a day of bi-partisan paternity tests. .

I'm not sure I should bring upI'm not sure I should bring up David Letterman's joke...

"One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game," Letterman said, "during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."

... Or "Celtic Diva."

CNN: " Palin hits back at 'malicious' photo,"

Posted: 07:16 PM ET From

Celtic Diva's Trig pic(CNN) – A week after a high-profile uproar with comedian David Letterman over the late-night host's joke about her daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is again sharply responding to the appearance of her children in the public sphere.

Palin's latest response comes after liberal Alaskan Blogger Linda Kellen Biegel doctored a photograph of the former Republican vice presidential candidate with her 1-year-old son Trig, who suffers from Down Syndrome.

Biegel, who blogs in support of the Alaska Democratic Party under the name "Celtic Diva," superimposed a picture of conservative Alaskan radio host Eddie Burke over Trig's face in an apparent effort to show how close the radio host is with the Alaskan governor.

"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapelton said in a statement provided to CNN. "The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling."

Stapelton also suggested President Obama should speak out against such behavior from liberal activists.

"Babies and children are off limits," She said. "It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans. The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned."

Responding on her blog to the uproar, Biegel said in no uncertain terms the doctored picture was intended to make fun of Burke, not Trig Palin.

Everyone has their points - the pressure and the breaking. And anyone with a pulse could tell you that Sarah Palin's pressure point was and remains her family. She reached her breaking point sometime before the third of July before she announced her resignation. I can only imagine the conversations around the Palin family dinner table were like before her announcement, and what was said about how the media unfairly treated every member of that family.

At what point do you, as a parent, listen to your child complain about the bullies night after night and want to make the bulling stop? What do you do when you realize that your life has been made into a living hell because of the relentless picking and taunts for no other reason then the fact that the children are yours and your political views?

What do you do, as a parent, after watching your children get lambasted by the media week after week and pictures of your family are hijacked by low-talent bloggers or jokes are made about your 14 year old daughter (Willow) getting laid and impregnated by a New York Yankee's pitcher?

How long would this go on before you said "uncle" and quit on behalf of your family?

And who would have thought that this nonsense would have continued this long after the election was over, or when John McCain's opponent was sworn into office? What happened to Barack Obama's pleas for partisanship bickering to be over and called for a time of healing?

Grotesque Pig Alaskan Blogger Linda Kellen Biegel In the day and a half that I've been working on this rant, I've come to a few conclusions and made some observations. But first, let me just ad that there are more then just a few people that have gone out of their way to attack members of Mrs. Palin's family. There are too many to mention and I don't want to list any of them and accidently give them more traffic then they deserve. Bloggers like Linda Kellen Biegel [pictured left] and Shannyn Moore of The Huffington Post have done a lot for politics, more then Keith (D)Oberman and David Letterman ever could. If anything, they started something that began during The Clinton/Gingrich era: Politics of personal destruction. Before the mid-1990's, husbands and wives of elected or appointed officials were off limits - before then not even the tabloids would touch what became fertile ground during those years.

But children? Young children of office holders under the age of 18? Thanks to Biegel and Moore, they're fair game. And they started something they wish they hadn't and won't be able to finish. Because now the children and grand children of the officials they support are also fair game now. It won't be condoned by me here on The Fedora Chronicles or allowed on The Electric Speakeasy - but in the very near future conservative bloggers are going to make cracks about President Obama's daughters and Joe Biden's grandchildren.

And too soon, conservative bloggers are going to go after Linda Kellen Biegel's husband, son or daughter, nieces and nephews. She's made herself into a public figure, and has been appointed the DNC as the official blogger of Alaska. Now she's fair game.

And who's going to run for public office or take an appointment knowing that any mistake your children make will be exaggerated by ankle biters like Biegel? Is this country (and others in the western world) going to be worse off thanks to the likes of Biegel because good people won't run because of what damage could be done to their families?

And speaking of that, what is Biegel going to do now that there's nothing for her to blog about? Venting about what jacket Sarah Palin wore to her husbands sportsman event or Photoshop more cruel pictures of the Palin Family? Who cares now? By getting what she wanted, Biegel stopped the clock on her 15 minutes of fame and killed her own golden goose. The only thing the public hates more then an attractive, successful conservative woman is a whinny, chunky liberal bloggging broad who attacks other people's children through rude comments and innuendo. And bad Photoshop work.

Maybe Biegel should study some HTML code herself and think long and hard about writing something worth reading now. That will give her something to do before she's sued by the State Of Alaska for filing all the frivolous ethic violation complaints and wasting tax-payer dollars - to the amount of $2 Million dollars?
