Scotty Ferguson falls in love with a mentally disturbed woman who he fails to save from suicide because he suffers from vertigo. Later he meets another girl and remakes her in his dead lover's image.

Incredible movie of deep psychology, dazzling imagery and compelling suspense. Hitchcock is the peak of his film-making art and this is his most personal film. James Stewart remaking the girl in his dead lover's image could almost be Hitch molding his blonde leading ladies. Wonderful score by Bernard Hermann and delightful location filming of 1950s San Francisco.
