A snapshot of the life of a brawling, boisterous factory worker stuck in a dreary industrial city.  Arthur Seaton has a contemptuous attitude to authority and likes to party.

The epitome of the British New Wave this film excited audiences with the anti-establishment energy of its central performance and really set the standard for the depiction of a believable British working class. Today it looks fairly tame but gains points for being highly influential.

Trivia - The Golden Age of Hollywood

The producers refused to delete two love scenes which look extremely tame now so Warwickshire refused to show the film.
