Harold Lloyd hanging from the
clock
is one of the most famous images in silent cinema but this neatly paced
silent comedy has lots of great gags before we get to the climb which
climaxes in that. One of the best sequences has Harold rushing to get
to his work on time. The thrill sequence is astonishing and looks
totally realistic. Even when you know how it was done it retains its
power.A wonderful film to watch as an escape from everyday reality it
will put a smile on your face and have you on the edge of your seat at
the same time.

The human fly was Bill Strother and he
doubled for Lloyd in the long shots. The building Lloyd climbs up is in
fact a set which wasn't as high as you see in the film, careful use of
camera angles completed the illusion.
The climb was remade to lesser effect in
sound for Feet First (1930).
