A divorced New York comedian and TV writer dates a high school girl and then looks for love with the mistress of his best friend instead.

A sweet romantic comedy though Woody's relationship with a much younger girl might make some uncomfortable considering subsequent events. If you can see past this it is a really enjoyable film and Woody's best. It neatly showcases his love affair with New York city and is quite moving too, less pretentious than some of his other films. I also love the crisp black and white photography and Gershwin's music is the perfect accompaniment.

"A masterpiece that has become a film for the ages by not seeking to be a film for the moment..."
