I find the belief in the "literal word of the bible" pretty silly.. putting it mildly.
If you don't believe in the "literal word of the Bible", and scoff at it, why are you going around telling people on the message boards that you are a "Christian"?
That would like a car mechanic who says that "I don't believe in what the manual for a car mechanic has to say literally, and I find it quite silly, but I'm still a mechanic".
I would understand, if an atheist said those words, because they really don't believe in the Bible. (At least, an atheist who says that, are being honest about they do or don't believe.)
For someone to say that they are a "Christian", and turn around & says that they don't believe in the Bible, find the Bible as "silly', or even disagree with the very basic concept of Christianity strikes me as very contradictory.
If you don't believe or agree with the teachings of Jesus Christ, then you are not a Christian.
If you believe in the teachings of Buddha, then you are a Buddhist.
If you believe in the teachings of Mohammed, then you are a Muslim.
If you believe that there is no God, and everything that exists, that has existed, or will exist in this world was caused by an sudden "accident", then you are a atheist.
So if you don't believe in the Bible, and scoff at it & call it "silly", stop telling people that you are a "Christian". It would be more prudent & more accurate to call yourself an "Agnostic".
