The Haircut

Everything to go with the lid when going to the office, a night on the town and special occasions. Looking sharp in your vintage/retro clothing has never been so easy... This is also your table to discuss and contribute to the conversations about reproducing the "Great Detective" look. Humphrey Bogart in "Casablanca" and "The Maltese Falcon" and William Powell in "The Thin Man" are just two great examples!

The Haircut

I swear, if I'm ever in London, I need to look up Mr. Natty and get a haircut & shave from him in one of his Pop-Up barber shops.

Plus I couldn't resist the treat of some tea and cake.;)

So, gentlemen, is there a favorite Barber that you go to? Any images or links to their barber shop? This may be a good place to post these barbers locations and info for those that travel and may be in need of a haircut & shave from a classic Barber.

In my Google travels I will locate & post images of classic men's haircuts. From posters & photographs to videos. Maybe we can all find that haircut that we've all been searching for here. A little change up is always a good thing. Feel free to post the images of you and your barber or images of the haircut that you want.

Cheers!

I go to Moxie Beauty & Hair Parlor here in Grand Rapids. They specialize in retro/ rockabilly styles. They cut a great pompadour.
If emulation of the best of our past with an eye toward improving the future was a constant practice, this would be a very different world.

I consider this my way of lighting a candle instead of cursing the darkness.

When I find a barber I like, I stick with them. Although not a terrible commute, when I was in the Navy in San Diego, I'd travel about 30 min to some out of the way Spanish lady who cut a perfect military do. Man, she was great.

Now, I have a place about two minutes away. It's a traditional barber, no shave service though, and I go to the gal who rents a chair there, not the shop owner. He cuts great hair no doubt but I find her to be more personable and precise, the latter being very important when I get a cut.

As for the chap in London, he should go in our famous 'stache thread! It would be a treat to get a shave and a cut by him! I've never had a professional shave before though.

Let it be know that as with all Raoul's advice, it's NSFW!!

That being said...well that's all I can say right right now. I can't seem to focus...

I have it on very good authority that Raoul feels the concept of NSFW depends solely on your line of work. 8)

I already posted him on page 3 of that post.

If you've never had a professional shave you are missing out on a very therapeutic experience, especially if you get someone that excels at it. It could be considered the man's version of the woman's facial. A good shave should take over a half an hour and you'll be super relaxed when they finish.

I used to go to one kid back in California (Aces Barber Shop in Paso Robles), and yes he was really young but super talented. You better have an hour to kill if you either got a haircut or a shave. He took his time, listened to what you wanted and delivered.

My sister-in-law cuts my hair now as she knows exactly what I want in my haircuts. But if I ever get to London, I will get my hair cut by Mr. Natty, just for the sheer experience.

Cheers!

I get my hair cut by a local hairdresser who is cutting my hair to get the same style as O'Connor from The Mummy (Brendan Fraser)...

Image

... which is entailing an 'undercut' to let the hair fall the right way. Just had my second cut and it's pretty close to what I want now. I may never have his money or his ab's but I can probably fudge the hairstyle!
