What I don't understand is how can any Trekkie support him after he gutted the manned space program.

I guess LT. Uhura still wants her 15 minutes.

I'm not sure why LT Uhura is smiling next to the guy who would turn Star Fleet into infantry.

If you look just right, he doesn't need a costume... Just sayin.

Perhaps because even though he did that, she is of the generation who remembers sitting in the back of the bus and other such things and now one of theirs is President of the United States. Even if you don't like the guy, ... it is something.

"One of their's". I'm not sure exactly why, but that small group of three words strikes me as being, well, racist. Obama was elected by a majority of my fellow Americans of every race and I think that his race is about as material to the discussions of his administration as his shoe size. I am assuming that Obama is President of the entire US and not just that segment of the population that shares his race.

As far as "not liking the guy" I really wouldn't know. I have never met the man personally so as far as I'm concerned his is an OK guy. I do however greatly disagree with his administration, his goals, his philosophy of governing, and most importantly his disregard of the US Constitution. I have never on any level argued against the Obama administration based on anything so insignificant, capricious and arbitrary as race. I voice my disagreement based on differing philosophies of the future of our country. I see America as Reagan did "A shining city on the hill", whereas I think Obama sees it as East Germany 2.0.

I voice my opposition to this President the same way I have voiced my opposition to every other US President with whom I disagree. To do anything less would indeed be racist. It would be treating Obama not as a US president with a differing philosophy of governance but rather as a "Special project" or worse a social program. Obama is the POTUS and to hold him to a different, lower standard than I have held every other President in my lifetime would be to denigrate the man far more than disagreeing with him.

I think it’s pretty clear that she’s just there just because he’s black and not because he claimed to be such an advocate for space exploration. Do a search and you’ll find there is more than enough evidence to support the notion that he’s gutted the space program and while cashing in on our hopes for “Change” – he’s not the “Space President” he promised.

He’s done more than any other President to gut NASA and now we have to rely on other nations for rides to The International Space Station. How is that cause to celebrate? He’s someone we should be proud of?

The notion that we should be proud and that his election should count for “something” is also a bit of an embarrassment; if anything it’s racist since we obviously didn’t elect him based on anything besides his ability to give speeches to captivating audiences. His election was a pop culture phenomenon that took on the same hysteria of the first season of “American Idol.”

For those of us who think that results matter, what has Obama actually done that’s made life better? I honestly can’t think of anything off the top of my head nor a decent reason why not but I can think of two people who will immediately blame the Republicans and I’ll ignore their answers. To everyone else who won’t give me any excuses – what has he done?

I wanted to be proud of this President and I wanted to be wrong; I wanted to have someone who would cross party lines to accomplish something but instead we have someone who strictly adheres to the same political affiliations that he swore he was going to change. What’s worse, I wanted to be proud to say that a member of my extended family works very closely with him but instead I’ve kept that a secret until now. I’m actually a little embarrassed by that.

Here’s a guy who was supposed to be the Jack Kennedy for the 21st Century – Newsweek had the balls to publish that embarrassing “We put a Vulcan in the White House” piece and yet he’s proven that he’s against genuine progress in that arena.
