Living Life: Henri Defense

Postby Henri Defense » Wed Aug 03, 2011 11:22 pm

So folks, I know you're all dying to know where the heck I've been. So I'm going to tell you. Whether you like it or not! :P I'm a pretty busy bloke these days, so it'll be slow goings on the updates but thought I'd share some of my adventures with ya.

One of the things I've become a part of in an event hosted by some of my theatre friends. It's called Poetry Cabaret. For a night we turn a theatre in to a 20's speakeasy, and put on a show. I play Whiskey Mick, poet extraordinaire. We have more poets, burlesque performers, singers, and comedians. It's a gas for sure.

Here I am reading some of my fine works...

Yes, those are my feet standing on the nearly bare body of a burlesque dancer atop a bed of nails.

More to come in Living Life: Henri Defense.

"Be always drunken. Nothing else matters: that is the only question. If you would not feel the horrible burden of Time weighing on your shoulders and crushing you to the earth, be drunken continually. Drunken with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtues, as you will. But be drunk.. ask what hour it is.. 'It is the hour to be drunken! Be drunken, if you would not be martyred slaves of Time; be drunken continually! With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you will.' "

Amazing picture, Henri.

Henri, while the art of the tease is at the very heart of burlesque, what you've done is almost criminal. If you don't post more, we'll have to inform Raoul and you know how he gets when he doesn't get what he wants.

MORE!

A case of do or die.
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.

UH OH.... After seeing that picture above I am guessing Eric may quit playing captured American Paratrooper and turn into Erico the Fakir who can sleep on a bed of nails..

Image
Of course he will also have his Fedora on....

I wonder what he will have Carol doing ???????

Henri, you got it going alright...As Cousi says keep us posted on the neat stuff going on...

I don't think so... I think we'll be sticking to the "American Paratrooper" role playing game but include the bed of nails. Mix it up a bit... you know?

All kidding aside... I would love to host the web site for Poetry Cabaret.

Excellent point. I only wish we could collect on that.

Not only would help out the bank balance here but cut down on the spam for sure..

Ren,

Poetry Cabaret is a pet project from a larger theatre company run by some good friends of mine. You can find their website here http://www.freshwatertheatre.com/

The photos were taken by our friend Matt Black, his work can be found here http://www.fibonaccistudio.com

We're doing another one on September 18th. I was also part of a fundraiser that was similar in theme. A variety of show, titled A Night of Villainy. The photos for that are the same found in the bowtie thread.

As requested, here is another picture of the lovely and unbelievably talented (she even did a bullwhip act!) Musette the MistressOmnischief

One of my friends and theatre colleages is a burlesque dancer, so I've become an avid attender of many shows. The specific company my friend works for is called Le Cirque Rouge Cabaret and Burlesque. They're unique in that they the only act in town who is 100% traditional, and has their own house band. So a live jazz band, singers, dancers, and comedy. They're truly amazing.

Besides mingling with beautiful ladies, I recently ran the Warrior Dash

I know what you're thinking... Soon I shall be the "most interesting man in the world" featured in the Dos Equis commercials.
