Spent last night grilling. Got to sit outside and enjoy a Green Line IPA beer and a CAO Americana cigar. Nice and flavorful. Smooth with a little nuttiness and leather.

It's been quite some time since I've had a cigar. I abhor cigarettes, vile little sticks of cheap tobacco, but love a good cigar. My fall-back favorite has to be Cohiba. The Dominican ones are great, almost as good as the Cuban variety, which I enjoyed while traveling when I was in the Navy.

Hello all. My first post here and I thought I'd make it in this thread. I just finished a Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur IV. It was a good smoke. The Hoyo de Monterrey doesn't often disappoint. This one was no exception. Great roll. Easy draw and full of flavor!
I received my first mailing today from the Cigar of the Month club I subscribed to. I got eight premium cigars. In the package were two of each: CAO MX2, Graycliff Avelino Lara 80th, Partagas and Carlos Torano Noventa.
I'm looking forward to the CAO MX2's. I had a CAO LX2 the other day and liked it so much, I ordered a full box of them. Since the LX2's were so good, I don't expect the MX2's to disappoint.
I'm still somewhat new to the cigar scene! I'm waiting for the humidor my wife ordered for me as an early present, as she put it. I don't know what occasion it's for though!

Welcome Ecorrigan. Although I no longer smoke I still enjoy the scents of a good cigar or pipe. Would never dream of squashing someone elses indulgences. I still have my Pops pipes and humidor he got from Italy. Every so often I open it up and take a whiff. Still smells fantastic after all this time.

So, welcome and enjoy. Love to hear more about your experiences.

I just got this in the mail today. I can't wait to dive in and have one, but at the same time, I don't want to detract from the full box that I have. I transferred them to my little humidor, but I still don't want to have any less than I do. I want to smoke them though!

I got into pipe smoking just this past week. I'm trying to capture that ubiquitous smell of pipes. What would that brand/blend be? Difficult to describe.

No doubt, smoking in any form is very bad for your health. With that said, I do enjoy a fine cigar every once in a great while. It's been far too long.

Fp, you want anything that's an aromatic blend. I have a friend who swears by Captain Black (or Gold) which you can find just about anywhere. It's not bad, but I personally prefer more top shelf. I have a blend that's local, and very good. If you can find a pipe store, and talk to the staff, they'll be able to put you in the right direction. I also have a tin my in-laws gave me that's very good. Call Virginia no. 1, Golden Sweet Pipe Tobacco by Mac Baren Tobacco. Very good. Smells of raisins.

Just try new things, buy in small quantities so you don't end up with something you hate. That's all part of the journey and fun!

I bought some black cavendish; Cheap Smoker's Pride stuff, and it's pretty good. There are a few good shops in the area that I'll visit soon.

I haven't smoked a pipe since the early seventies.

I seemed to always gravitate toward Cavendish also... Just liked the smell and flavor and always had it in whatever mixture I would try..

I had acquired quite a collection of pipes but the best smoke seemed to come from any corncob pipe that I bought....... Looked kind of dumb but no breaking in and a very smooth smoke with whatever I had loaded in the bowl.. Downside, they make you look like a hayseed and the pipe didn't last long, the bowls burned out quicker than a normal pipe.

One of the things I didn't like about pipe smoking was all the stuff you had to carry around with you...

But a very nice relaxing smoke at home.. I miss having a pipe to smoke when I just want to relax and chill out....

The main reason I started smoking a pipe was to try and quit smoking cigarettes ..

It worked well until I stopped smoking pipes, I went right back to Marlboro's

I did manage to finally quit cold Turkey years later.....

Still enjoying pipe smoking after 5 or 6 months. Bought a nice used Peterson System 301, made sometime in the 50's. Great smoke. Started to dabble in English blends. Very interesting stuff. McClelland's Frog Morton On the Bayou is a nice lighter English blend.

I've also been smoking cigars a few times a month. I'm absolutely in love with the Oliva Serie V line. CAO Italia and America a great too.

I'm still enjoying the cigars I picked up in the Dominican Republic but I'm sad that I won't be able to replace them when I'm done with the box! They came from a local factory in Punta Cana and they are not sold on-line or abroad

For something really different, I like to break up my smoking with an ACID Kuba Kuba. A little spicy but not overpowering. Some people swear that smoking one when they feel a cold coming on will stave off sickness.

I do love me a good cigar once in a great while. Is there a good way to get the cigar smell off you (besides a shower and brushing your teeth)? When I smoke a particularly 'robust' stogie, the heavy smoke seems to linger a day or so in my pores and hair.
