I'm not really sure how much danger the Earth is in from an actual invasion from space but for the sake of argument lets say that hypothetically one could happen. Historically speaking conquerors, with a few notable exceptions, have placed precious little value on the culture and technology of the conquered. In most cases the conquerors valued raw materials, slaves, and the land itself.
I think that if a hypothetical invasion did take place it would be possible that the same motivation would apply. The fact that we are "backward" from a technological standpoint would only serve top make the invasion more feasible to hostile strategic planners.
But like I said, this is strictly hypothetical.
