Hijacking does happen a lot here,, usually for humor or just because another thread branches off for awhile but it usually comes back to center...

I actually don't mind if it got hijacked if it was done out of humour. Some of the funniest posts that I've ever seen were at the Fedora Chronicles. But JCOM has taken the direction of the thread so far off course, that you couldn't even find it on GPS.

And yeah..I have read the last few pages as well.

To be honest, IMHO I don't think anyone meant any offense to you or your topic in this case and I hope you accept and understand that.....

No problem. :) I actually don't think that anyone's comments was directed at me in anyway, and everyone here's has been most considerate, gracious & civil. (Well..most people anyway.) But my point was that I just wish JCOM would have at least the common decency to start his own thread.

I think that Hakaider has a point, up to a point. I agree that on other forums a thread hijacking, even an unintentional one, would result in an instant if somewhat Draconian banning. The thing is that the Fedora Chronicles isn't other forums.

Some time ago Friend Blackthorn stated that the FC is like the bar on the TV show "Cheers". You log on here and everyone knows your name and we are all more or less friends. I'm not saying that we do or should tolerate rudeness or insults or general bad behavior. (I think even Cheers had a bouncer.) What I am saying is that sometimes the threads evolve exactly the way conversations between friends evolve. On occasion these evolutions take the subject a bit away from the original idea or spirit of the thread. I don't believe that this is an intentional insult but rather an indication of the comfort level the members here have with each other. In any case I think that banning an individual for this is a bit of overkill and would probably result in a rather barren and boring forum.

I don't think there is a person here who hasn't had a thread hijacked. In fact I have on occasion hijacked my own thread, which is an example of what a nonlinear thinker I am. In each case if the originator thought it was needed, the thread was easily brought back on course with another posting on the initial subject. No harm, no foul. No need to ban.

Thanks for the thoughtful input n11 pilot. :D Actually, I'm not asking JCOM to get banned at all but I'm just trying to steer things back to the point of the original thread. (I agree that banning him would be a bit overkill.) But I am trying to let him know it would be more polite if he should really start his own thread if he wants to continue his personal rant about WWII. (It's really not that hard to click on the label that's marked, "New Topic".)

I like the "Cheers" reference by the way.

I like it too. I think Blackthorn nailed it with that analogy. :)

Professor of history and even accused of "being full of hate" and called all kinds of derogatory names, he has done, open the books and teach the subject. In the long run, of course, these students will have learned nothing, of course, because they ran.

The fact that your post seems to be a mindless accumulation of words from other posts in this thread combined with the fact that you have crap merchandise links at the bottom, makes me believe that you are a bottom dwelling spammer. Only a fool would click on a spammer's link, and if we are short of one thing here it is a collection of fools.
