Welcome to the FC! As with many of us, I literally wore out my VHS copy. I need to get the DVD...maybe someday they'll release it in full Blu Ray glory.

Yea, we've been meaning to have a thread about this. The obvious question is... what do you love about it so much?

I have my answer, I just want to read yours first.

OMG!! (to coin a phrase) You NEED to see it, .. however I've known some who loved it and some who hated it, and others who just loved the look. I think you have to have a love of the LOOK of the era and the pulp feel of the whole thing! One scene that is my favorite is a dirigible going over a house and it takes a moment or two before you catch the Swastika on the side of the HUGE airship!

Here is some footage of the Jenny Dress and the Rocketeer Hero and Stunt costumes. Also some info for a show of the film for the 20th anniversary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtxzWm0R_7I

Yes, I really enjoyed that scene where the Fed and the mobster sort of shrugged and both fought the Sturmabteilung.

I also like the aircraft, the GeeBee and the autogyro.

It was an Art Deco paradise, with a great story. What's not to like?

I might be satisfied with the standard-def DVD, except that it's not in 5.1 surround nor is the disc anamorphically enhanced for 16:9 tvs, which makes for a very poor show. Since this year marks the 20th anniversary, I'm hoping for a remastered version... but I'm not holding my breath.

It has been on the SyFy Channel for the past few days. Have caught it on and off then while cleaning house. Lots of fun to watch.

Cheers!
