"The African Flu"

Postby Eric Renderking Fisk » Tue Apr 12, 2011 7:47 am

I've been sick as a dog for the past 36 hours with what some people are calling "The African Flu" here in NH and I'm not sure why. Vomiting, Diarrhea, severe cramps. There were moments when we all waited for death but that never came. It could be worse, though - I could have been seven seasons of Star Trek Voyager.

Could have been even worse than that. It could have been a Glee marathon. Count yourself lucky.

Cheers!

I guess there's no accounting for taste.. I really LIKED Star Trek Voyager!

I hope you recover from your "flyin' Hawaiins" soon! and hope EVEN more so that I don't get it! Watch out for the cytokine storm!

I hope you're feeling alright soon, "The African Flu" sounds awful. Did it originate from there, and spread to the States. I never even watched Star Trek Voyager though, I'm more of a TOS/TNG kind of guy.

Hope you are feeling better, Ren. Please take care of yourself and get some rest.

(I've had the swine flu, and that stuff almost killed me when I was at the hospital, so I can certainly sympathize with what you are going through. Please get a lot of rest!)

My neighbor had it last week. At first she thought she was going to die, then she was afraid that she was going to live. It is that bad.

When you stop vomiting make sure to drink sips of Gatorade or Pedialyte to restore electrolytes. If you just drink water you will feel very weak.

Interesting, .. I haven't heard of this till now. I had my flu shot this year as well as the swine flu injection .. I'll have to do some research. Flu is NEVER fun, but one that severe on top of asthma (which I have) can be REALLY bad.

I had a relapse yesterday and last night with cramps so bad I thought I was going to explode. Apparently it lingers for a while and can cause people to rebound.

I have no idea why they call this the African Flu -except that maybe where it came from or all the other names were taken. Hey should call it "THE BIGGEST LOSER" flu since I lost 10 pounds in 6 days.

Losing some pounds won't be a bad thing, but if anyone else out there gets this,,,, don't have a coughing fit, fight it with all your might....

The "Big D" doesn't go well with coughing fits....

So after I begin to feel well, it COMES BACK ????

KILL ME NOW !!!!

Igor has heard your plea and is on his way! He asked me to let you know. 8)
Please don't make any plans to come to the west coast.

Get well guys, and you are so right SOG, it's no fun to have a coughing fit with the green apple splatters.

Cheers!
