Road to Perdition (2002)

Bonds of loyalty are put to the test when a hitman's son witnesses what his father does for a living.

It doesn't seem that this film is that old now. Based on a Graphic Novel by Max Allan Collins and Richard Piers Rayner. Again, a visually stunning film of the golden era. Great cast, well acted & the cinematography was excellent. The set designs, especially the Rooney house interior were stunning. I wish I could have an interior of my home to look like that. The costuming was excellent as well, another hat & overcoat to covet. Tall crown, no taper... Hmmm. 8)

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it really captured the era perfectly. And being of Irish ancestry, it didn't hurt that this was about the Irish mob.

Thanks for the great photos. I saw this film years ago, have to check it out again. How would you describe the hat? I'm thinking 5-1/2" center-dent crown with a 2-1/2" brim and a 2" ribbon. :P

I would say somewhat Indyesque with either and overwelt brim or a bound brim.

A couple of basic small-arms errors...but that's my only complaint. Which for any movie - especially a period one - says a lot about quality in my estimate.
Get it together? Lady, last time my people got it together it took most of Robert E. Lee's backyard to bury the evidence.

I'll have to re-watch this one. It's been some time since I've seen it...loved it the first time though.

Really good flick. Holds up well over time.

Personally I say watch this and forget about Public Enemies.
"When the mob and the press and the whole WORLD tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the River of Truth and tell the whole WORLD:

'No, YOU move.'" - Captain America

It's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die.
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.

Agreed. PUBLIC ENEMIES was a huge disappointment for me. Great period feel, great guns, cars and clothing. But it's dull as dishwater.

So, would you say it's as exciting as whale bunk?

I own copies of "Road To Perdition" and "Public Enemies," and I can tell you that I've seen "Road" more times since I bought "Public" then "Public" itself. I could only sit through it from start to finish once. Since then I can only watch some parts of it, then go back and watch it some more, then finish it later.

It's not out of a lack of trying.

I suppose it would depend if the whale bunk was being launched at you from a sick whale while you were swimming near said whale. Then you are in for sime serious excitement.

When I said Id like to watch them back to back, it was for, among other reasons, comparison. Now that Ive had your 'previews,' I'll watch it anyway, so there ha! ;)
