U.N. Appoints 'First Contact' for Visiting Space Aliens

The United Nations is set to appoint an obscure Malaysian astrophysicist to act as Earth's first contact for any aliens that may come visiting.

Mazlan Othman, the head of the U.N.'s little-known Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa), will describe her potential new role next week at a scientific conference at the Royal Society's Kavli conference center in Buckinghamshire, England.

She will tell delegates that the recent discovery of hundreds of planets around other stars has made the detection of extraterrestrial life more likely than ever before -- and that means the U.N. must be ready to coordinate humanity's response to any "first contact."

Doug, I wondered the same thing when I read all of this "coincidental" information that was being released. I then started to think about the impact THEY would have on us. Would they be simple space tourists or colonizers? Would the same thing happen to us that has happened to every native culture that has been exposed to a technologically advanced culture?
I am thinking of the Spanish and the Aztecs, the English and the Powhattans, the Romans and the Celts, etc.

I hope that if THEY make contact THEY give a short speech at the UN, have a snack at a retro diner (Selecting from the menu and not the patrons),do some souvenir shopping, cure cancer, AIDs, heart disease, old age, and Michael Moore. I hope THEY then take their muffin basket and go home thinking, "Earth, its a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there."

Times 2. I wouldn't mind meeting one under the right circumstances and a passing of some limited technology wouldn't be a bad idea. It'd sure be nice if such a thing ended wars too but I think that's just part of the human 'experience' until the appointed time.

My longtime good friend Lee Spiegel, an AOL editor in New York, tipped me to the fact that the highly decorated officer had used his military savvy and high security clearance to spend a quarter of a century going through the top levels of the U.S. government and military searching for the group of people who were allegedly responsible for UFO information and the supposedly decades-old UFO cover-up. His conclusions: Not only is there no such group and no cover-up, but also disclosure about UFOs has already occurred on official levels.

For some scholars it's one passage that is commonly called 'the Rapture'...specifically v. 17:

"Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord!"

Should this occur, TPTB will be left trying to explain what happened to a great number of the global population suddenly. PSYOPS* has a pretty good 'alibi' of late with the 'threat' of an alien invasion.

As part of a continuing effort to declassify government reports related to unidentified flying objects, the U.K.'s Ministry of Defense and The National Archives this week released about 8,500 pages of UFO-related documents, illustrations, letters, and parliamentary debates from 2000-2005.


Some of the files describe paranormal reports that turned out to be mere pranks; other stories of intergalactic proportions were ultimately found to have earthly explanations. But the British government said 5 percent of the cases remain unsolved.

"The official agenda is, I've been told, on both sides of the Atlantic, is that gradual disclosure has to be the way," Timothy Good, a UFO expert and believer, told ABC News' "Good Morning America."

The writer, Jacques Vallee has several books out on the idea of alien contact and ..supposed .. alien contact and the ways the ideas of alien contact will be / are / have been used by intelligence services and others around the world. I would recommend his books to EVERYONE who has an interest in the UFO phenomena.

Mr. Vallee has however made a few interviews over the years and then got ticked off and left the UFO field as he didn't see there was anything new and useful going on in it.
