Iranian Navy Brags They Could Get Within 3 Miles Of New York

In a recent speech to students at the University of Yazd in Iran, Iranian Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi bragged that the Iranian Navy can get within 3 miles of New York & he hinted that their navy has the capability to destroy New York, (Or any East Coast U.S. city) or set up a naval blockade of any U.S. East Coast city. He also bragged how easy it was for the Iranian navy to destroy a U.S. nuclear aircraft carrier.

In some ways, Admiral Ali Fadavi reminds me of "Baghdad Bob" during the opening days of the Iraq war. "Baghdad Bob" kept bragging that the forces of Saddam Hussein were winning the war on the Iraqi state run T.V., and even claimed that Iraqi paratroopers had easily conquered New York City. The funniest scene with "Baghdad Bob", was when he bragged the Saddam Hussein had just destroyed America, ( This was shortly just before he was taken off the air, and he went into hiding) and you can clearly see the U.S. troops & tanks coming into the background.

Some of the responses to Iranian Admiral Ali Fadavi's recent boasting have also been hilarious . Among the funniest ones are:

"It's a nice offer, Iran, but we don't need to start any artificial reefs so close to New York."

"...and the tip of the torch of the Statue of Liberty way off in the distance would be the last thing they would see before joining OBL with the fishes."

"Yes, *please* bring your warships to our waters. The closer the better -- that will save us travel cost to sink it. Plus, New Yorkers can watch!"

If those buttheads ever got that close to NY City they would find their ships up on cinder blocks being stripped for parts.

Baghdad Bob... Indeed.

That has given me a great idea for a book: Everything Our State Department Needs To Know Can Be Learned From Watching Casablanca. :D
