Show off your lids...

Postby DanielJones » Wed Aug 11, 2010 12:21 pm

This could be for vintage purchaes off of ebay, the local antique store or custom jobs like a new hat or reblocking of an already existing lid. Show off your great deals from the past & present.

This was my first vintage hat purchase ever and it was had for $10 off of ebay. It is an Adam Premier. The one thing I enjoy about it is the unusual ribbon treatment.

Keep 'em coming folks.

Of course my all time favorite is my Whippet. Art Fawsett did a number on this one resurrecting it from the dead. It is one I will never part with.

I actually wore one to the movie's première: this is a pic I took of my outfit that day.

I didn't think I would really be able to pull off the look of the boater so I asked Mr Penman to make the Public Enemy Fedora for me....

One of my very favorites is the vintage Dobbs that was repaired by the ladies of Paul's Hat Works:

Summer hats, continued!

This one is a Panama, optimo crown style - Art Fawcett crafted the ribbon.

My Peters Bros. Indy Straw. It has seen better days but it sure does keep the sun off & the head air conditioned.

This one is an older image but still fun. I need to get a new ribbon put on it as I have been using it as a summer yard hat now. May have to get the white version of this one & have john work some of his magic on it.

Cheers!

Although not my 100% favorite this so called Montecristi does a bang up job of looking very relaxed in a British Caribbean manner. If at all possible I may want to get it reblocked and have a leather sweatband put in. Maybe.

And a little more formal. The Stetson St. Regis Homburg. Someday I would like to get one in black too. Preferably from the late 20's or early 30's.

A Stetson Open Road from the late 1950's, & it had a $12.95 price tag in it. Got it on ebay for about $24, so not much of a price increase. The shop it was made for is still around in Phoenix, Arizona. They sell clothing and accessories for Mormon missionaries. This one was NOS & had never been creased or worn.

Makes for a nice light western dress hat & fedora so it covers both areas comfortably.

Cheers!
