For folks who don't know, Anthony Bourdain was an inspiration to a few of us here at The Fedora Chronicles and what kept me - Eric Renderking Fisk - going when times have been tough for us.

One of the greatest things I took from his two books "Kitchen Confidential" and "Medium Raw" is the attitude to just keep going. Plow through the tough times, learn your damn lessons, and just persevere. "Yea, no kidding it's tough... so what? Don't quit now when you're just getting good at it" was the over-arching theme of his writing.

Anthony taught me and a lot of other writers that you can be a writer from any background and be really good at it so long as you write from the heart. Some self-deprecating humor and genuine humility don't just go a long way, it's essential.

He proved that you can write about anything and so long as it is informative and entertaining you will find an audience or the audience will find you.
